Dianne is a member of the Washington, DC bar. She has been an attorney since 1980, having practiced in both Canada and the United States, primarily in the areas of real estate, corporate law, wills & estate administration, personal injury actions, governmental relations, real estate negotiations and mediation.

In 1980, Dianne founded a Canadian law firm that grew to include seven attorneys. She entered municipal government in 1991 and was mayor of her city from 1994 to 2000. She then moved with her family to the Washington, DC area.

Dianne’s experience as an attorney has included many court appearances and several full trials; successful negotiations of major lawsuits including personal injury actions and wrongful dismissal; negotiation and settlement of large numbers of eminent domain claims; legal action taken against a municipal government; extensive estate law and real estate law practice, including negotiations of many commercial leases; incorporation of businesses; negotiation of franchises and related agreements. She acted as attorney for the first scattered housing project for First Nations peoples in Canada called the Native Inter-Tribal Housing Cooperative and assisted in public relations for this large groundbreaking project. Dianne has also been a frequent public speaker on legal topics at community events and at the bar preparation course.

After studying at The George Washington University Law School and being admitted to the DC bar, Dianne accepted an appointment to work for Mayor Anthony Williams’ administration as the District Executive Accountability Coordinator in the Center for Innovation and Reform. In this position, she was in charge of an innovative management accountability program, which uses the collection of meaningful data and Stat technology to ensure that agencies and their programs are more customer-focused, data-driven, cost-effective and accountable.
